VidOvation at the 2018 NAB Show Las Vegas
VidOvation will showcase its latest innovations in video transmission and distribution systems. Highlights include:
The VidOwave 10GigE 60G is an advanced 60 GHz millimeter-wave broadband and
wireless data connectivity solution that delivers low latency and full-duplex 10 Gigabit Ethernet transport speeds in a small ruggedized, easy-to-install enclosure. The wireless link operates in two modes; 10 Gbps direct fiber to radio connectivity and 2 x 1.25 Gbps links with an aggregated throughput of 2.5Gbps. The line of sight range is up to 1.8KM over the 60GHz license-free V-band. Typical deployments include line-of-sight data links that would otherwise be impossible or cost-prohibitive with fiber optic cable for such applications as IP video streaming and transport, connecting LANs between buildings, extending fiber backbones, and wireless backhaul for 3G and 4G/LTE mobile networks.
The VidOswitcher fully integrates with the VidOvation IPTV system by simplifying the
remote controlling of IPTV end points in many situations, ranging from TVs in common areas, video-wall TVs in lobbies, to arrays of TVs in production rooms. The VidOswitcher shows all TVs and all available channels of every location. Tuning a TV to a channel is done by simply selecting the TV, picking the channel and then clicking the tune button. Multiple TVs can be tuned to the same channel at the same time by putting them in a TV Group, selecting the group, picking the channel and then clicking the tune button. VidOswitcher can instantly tune multiple TVs to multiple channels using Profiles, which are TV to channel mappings, such as TV1 to CH10 and TV2 to CH20. Profile tuning is simply selecting a Profile and clicking the tune button. VidOswitcher leverages IP protocols to control TVs efficiently and precisely and can control smart TVs as well as TVs with set-top boxes. VidOswitcher is browser based making ideal fro any device such as smartphones, tablets, touch panels and PC monitors. No software is required.
AVIWEST’s popular DMNG PRO video uplink series expands with the new DMNG
PRO180+. DMNG PRO180+ supports most of the cellular networks deployed in the world, including Europe, the Middle East, Africa, the United States, Canada, Latin America, and most of Asia. The versatility of this version gives broadcasters and video professionals the flexibility to travel everywhere in the world with a single unit without needing to replace its internal or external cellular modems.
A key highlight at the 2017 NAB Show will be the transition to the HEVC video
compression standard. AVIWEST’s live IP video solutions support HEVC, allowing broadcasters to deliver even better video quality at lower bit rates.
AVIWEST’s HE4000 4K Ultra HD HEVC live encoder is ideal for real-time delivery of live UHD or HD content over unmanaged IP networks. The compact, half 1-RU encoder combines 10-bit and 422 HEVC encoding with the latest generation of SafeStreams® technology for delivery of live video content over IP at low latencies and low bitrates.
Thanks to AVIWEST’s SafeStreams® technology, which combines intelligent H-ARQ algorithms with IP bonding mechanisms, the HE4000 ensures the delivery of live video even in the midst of unpredictable and unmanaged network conditions, enabling broadcasters to provide seamless news and sports coverage from any location around the world. By combining HEVC encoding and AVIWEST’s SafeStreams® technology, the HE4000 dramatically reduces bandwidth costs while guaranteeing superior video quality.
AVIWEST’s live IP contribution system is mainly composed of the DMNG StreamHub
transceiver and the DMNG Manager management system. The system operates in virtualized mode to deliver all of the economic benefits of the cloud without compromising the performance required by today’s media environments.
AVIWEST will showcase at NAB their extended cloud-based capabilities. By supporting both point-to-point and point-to-multipoint distribution scenarios, the platform offers broadcasters the flexibility they need to stream live video content to any CDN and streaming platforms such as Facebook Live or YouTube.
Multiple input and output streaming protocols (e.g., RTMP, RTSP/RTP, HLS, TS/IP, AVIWEST SafeStreams®) are supported by the platform, enabling broadcasters to receive concurrent incoming streams from remote AVIWEST DMNG transmitters and encoders, MacBook and smartphone applications, or third-party systems such as IP cameras. The DMNG StreamHub now serves as a generic integrated receiver decoder or IRD in your master control
AVIWEST has enhanced its industry-leading Mobile Journalism (MOJO) solution, which
includes the DMNG Laptop MacBook application and the DMNG APP iOS and Android applications. The new version of the DMNG APP smartphone application offers live streaming, store, and forward of high-quality, live video. New is an optimized interface, advanced camera settings (e.g., focus, exposure, white balance), dynamic resolution, and video quality improvements, with the capability to transmit video over bonded 3G/4G and Wi-Fi connections in just seconds. See the latest DMNG Laptop MacBook live video application with a new HEVC video compression option that dramatically improves performance.
Vidovation EVP of Engineering & CTO Jim Jachetta and AVIWEST Area Sales Manager Florian Kolmer discuss the highlights on the booth at NAB Show New York with InBroadcast’s Vanessa Rae.
AVIWEST DMNG Family of Solutions for Live Video Over Bonded Cellular
As the master distributor for AVIWEST in the U.S. market, VidOvation will showcase the
two newest products in AVIWEST’s DMNG family of bonded cellular video transmission solutions for newsgathering applications. Offering the industry’s highest processing power for bonded cellular communications with bit rates of up to 20 Mbps, the DMNG Pro includes a second high-bit-rate encoding engine for high-resolution video recording. New support for dynamic latency and adaptive bit-rate functionality enable the DMNG Pro to minimize latency and seamlessly adjust to changing network conditions without operator intervention. Also, the DMNG Pro now supports the bonding of eight cellular modems into an Internet access point to help news crews cut costs while maximizing bandwidth and efficiency.
VidOvation is also highlighting the DMNG HE4000, an HEVC/H.265 4K video encoder for contribution and primary distribution. With support for high-efficiency video coding (HEVC), the DMNG delivers the same video quality as H.264/AVC at 50 percent of the required bandwidth, optimizing the distribution of SD, HD, and 4K content over unmanaged networks such as the public Internet. By combining HEVC encoding and AVIWEST’s SafeStreams® contribution technology, the DMNG HE4000 reduces bandwidth costs dramatically while guaranteeing superior video quality.

Turnkey IPTV System for Enterprises Now Includes Full DirecTV Integration
VidOvation TV Now Bundles DirecTV Content With DRM, VOD, and DVR Capabilities for End-to-End IPTV Services in Broadcast and Media Facilities
IRVINE, Calif. — March 22, 2016 — VidOvation today announced that VidOvation TV, the company’s turnkey IPTV system for enterprises, now includes full DirecTV integration. As one of only two digital rights management (DRM) systems now approved by DirecTV and other satellite content providers, VidOvation TV is now a comprehensive, end-to-end IPTV solution that bundles DirecTV content with DRM, video on demand (VOD), and digital video recording (DVR) and enables streaming to the full range of consumer devices and set-top boxes.
The DirecTV COM2000 fully integrates with the VidOvation Enterprise IPTV System for the distribution of Live TV & Video-on-demand across your enterprise network to the Desktop, TVs, Smart TVs, Set-top Boxes, Mobile Devices, Tablets and more. The DirecTV COM2000 system has been designed specifically for hotels and enterprise installations where there is a need for a single wire solution for multiple rooms. The COM2000 system offers up to 48 tuners in a scalable system that takes up a small space in an equipment rack. It creates a head-end system where every TV can be tuned to its own channel without interfering with other TVs.
VidOvation TV is a flexible and scalable IPTV solution that empowers organizations to incorporate live TV programs, live internal video broadcasts, and VOD to increase the efficiency of training and communications. Television stations, studios, media facilities, financial institutions, government agencies, and any other type of enterprise can use VidOvation TV to deploy their own internal TV channels to communicate, train, and guide employees, including broadcast of timely instructions during critical emergency situations. The solution delivers digital television programming directly to employees’ smartphones, tablets, desktop players, and smart TVs, and it allows scheduled recording and on-demand time-shift viewing.
With support for live TV content such as DirecTV, broadcast or media facilities can use VidOvation TV in a range of applications. For instance, a sports league can watch and archive live broadcasts for game analysis, a media studio can manage its content and view its own live broadcasts for quality control, and news or financial institutions can watch markets and competing stations to stay competitive.
“IPTV video delivery offers a cost-effective, flexible, and highly interactive over-the-top alternative to traditional terrestrial, satellite, and cable TV formats. These traditional approaches have many shortcomings for enterprise or corporate deployments, such as an inability to distribute to multiple end-user platforms, a lack of open architecture, and a lack of support for DRM,” said Jim Jachetta, executive vice president and chief technology officer, VidOvation. “With VidOvation TV, we’ve overcome these shortcomings by giving our customers a truly comprehensive IPTV system that includes DRM, VOD, DVR capabilities, and now – in response to customer demand – live television content from DirecTV. Plus, the entire VidOvation TV experience is fully customizable, allowing customers to deliver IPTV services in line with their own branding and corporate image.”
